Atkinson, Willis Laird "Bill" – 95, Pugwash, passed away peacefully Monday, August 9, 2021, at the East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash. Born in Pugwash he was a son of the late Harold and Blanche (Laird) Atkinson. Bill worked as a self employed carpenter for most of his life. He is survived by his children, Michael Purdy (Donna Perkins), Ottawa, Sandra (Lloyd) Gallant, Summerside, PEI, Susan Hanlon (Darrin Lethbridge), Pugwash; grandchildren, Sandy (Jennifer), Tony (Linda), Jason (Kelly), Amanda (Mitchell), Morgan (Caleb), Devon (Taylor); great grandchildren, Shania, Jadyn, Ethan, Lily, Jaxson, Emmerson, Sophia; brother, Chesley "Ches" Atkinson, Springhill; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Anna Marie (Molloy) Atkinson; sons, Patrick and Carl Purdy; grandson, Quintin Purdy; siblings, Marg, Jessie, Eloise, Jean, Eileen, Goldie, Shirley and Norman. There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Mundle's Funeral Home, Pugwash. Donations in memory may be made to the North Cumberland Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or to the East Cumberland Lodge.
