William "Billy"
Smith
Aug 28, 1981 — Nov 15, 2021
Moncton
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William "Billy" Joseph Smith on Monday, November 15, 2021, at the Moncton Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Born August 28, 1981, Billy was a son of Robert and Deborah (Strowbridge) Smith. Billy is survived by his loving wife, Courtney; his beloved children, Madden, Asher, and Baylin; his sisters, Monica (Morgan), Angie (Andy); brothers, Bobby (Tonia), Allen (Alison); his life-long best friend, Matt Hartley, and his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Stanley and Doris (MacKenzie) Strowbridge; paternal grandparents, Jacob and Alberta (Paradis) Smith. Billy will always be remembered for his kindness, strength, and determination to overcome all obstacles that life has thrown his way. The way he always put others before himself and made sure everyone was looked after. Billy had a deep love for his wife and his children. An outward love that shone through when he talked about them, a love that could be felt just by watching them interact. He looked at them as a precious gift and he would do anything to love and protect them. Billy had a deep love for his mom, dad, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, his many cousins, and anyone that he called his friend. If you were any of those, you always knew that he would do anything in his power for you. He cared about everyone. A selfless person who truly appreciated every single moment and everything someone did for him no matter how big or how small. Last but not least, when Billy found Courtney, he gained a second family whom he loved; his mother-in-law, Brenda Corkum Howard; father-in-law, Robert Howard; sister-in-law, Chelsea (Chapman) Terris; brother-in-law, Kenneth Terris. You all gave him many years of happiness. Billy was a long-term employee of Casino New Brunswick and freely spoke about how much he loved working for the company, the management, and with his coworkers. Thank you to Casino New Brunswick for your support throughout these past 5 years. Billy's family would like to thank the incredible staff of the Moncton Hospital and the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre for the care Billy has received over the past five years. We would also like to thank Rachel Demont for the care she provided as his personal care worker and the Moncton Hospital Palliative Care Unit for the amazing care they provided him in his final days. Cremation has taken place under the direction of MacDiarmid's Funeral Home & Crematorium, Oxford. In true Billy fashion, a small family-only celebration of life will take place, but please feel free to leave condolences or your most memorable moments with Billy so that these can be shared with his family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an education fund set up for Billy's children.
