It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Bill Martin, a cherished father, devoted community servant, and steadfast voice of hope. Bill passed away peacefully in Pugwash on July 10, 2025. Bill lived a life defined by compassion, conviction, and communication. He never stopped learning, and never let convention limit what he could achieve. A self-made man in every sense, Bill carved out a remarkable path through determination, hard work, and a deep belief in purpose over pedigree. As Managing Director of Hope Centre Ministries, he became the heart and voice of thePugwash community. Under his leadership, the Hope Centre blossomed into a vibrant hub of faith, hospitality, and connection-offering everything from pastoral care to live community radio. Through his beloved programs like 'His View', 'Morning Talk', and 'The Simple Truth', Bill created a space where local voices could be heard, civic issues could be explored, and neighbors could come together. Bill's call to ministry was undeniable. He served as pastor at Pugwash Memorial Baptist Church and Debert Baptist Church, and as chaplain for both the Pugwash Fire Department and the Debert Fire Brigade-offering solace and spiritual care in times of both celebration and grief. Over the course of his wide-reaching career, Bill wore many hats: journalist, broadcaster, communications strategist, radio station general manager, newspaper founder, and even Executive Director of Baseball Canada. He held executive roles with numerous organizations and task forces-from public health to town halls to community events. No matter the title, he led with integrity, passion, and a fierce commitment to uplifting others. His leadership extended far and wide-founding and guiding organizations such as the Rug Hooking Museum of North America and the Ten Beaches Hospitality Society, and contributing to countless civic groups across Nova Scotia and beyond. Bill is survived by his beloved children, Corey Martin and Jay Martin; his dear sister, Sandy Sanderson; and his treasured  grandson, Dante Parker. He also leaves behind a vast network offriends, colleagues, and community members who were touched by his wisdom, wit, and warmth. A service to celebrate Bill's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Mundle's Funeral Home in Pugwash, Nova Scotia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hope Centre or a charity of your choice.
