Smith (Treen), Virginia Marguerite – Pugwash, passed away at Ivany Place, Bedford, on January 4, 2023, at the age of 103. Born in Malagash she was the daughter of the late Henry and Emily (Studivan) Treen. She spent much of her adult life in Pugwash. She became a faithful member of the Pugwash Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Mom devoted many years as a volunteer to several community activities. She was treasurer of the North Cumberland Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, secretary of the Women's Missionary Society and was involved with PTA events. She opened her home to overnight guests who were involved with the Peace Movement that was initiated by Cyrus Eaton. Virginia enjoyed travelling, reading and knitting but the essence of her life was her faith, her family and her friends. Virginia is survived by her daughter, Norma Wrigley, her son, Edwin (Myrtle) Smith, grandchildren, Shannon (Danny) Palmer, Karen (Geoffrey) Smith, Elliott (Laura) Smith, Tim (Shandy) Wrigley, Lucy Wrigley, Mary Ann Wrigley, great grandchildren, Robert, Kathryn, Owen, Shannon, Brooklyn (and her mother Chelsea), Terrence, Brandon, Simon and several great-great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Ellis, sister, Eleanor Smith, grandson, Elliott Neil Smith, son-in-law, Gerald Wrigley. Mom, we are truly grateful for the wonderful memories and exemplary example of caring that you and Dad have instilled in us. Donations in memory may be made to the Malagash South Shore Cemetery or the charity of one's choice. A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the South Shore Cemetery, Malagash.
