Verlene Ruth
Weeks
Jun 28, 1938 — May 9, 2026
Fountain Road
Verlene Ruth Weeks, age 87, passed peacefully encapsulated in love, at Willow Lodge, in Tatamagouche, NS. Born June 28, 1938 to Cecil and Ruth Adams in Lerwick, New Brunswick. Wife of Reg, mother to Ron (Donna), Ralph (Dana) and Randy (Jill). Grandmother to Amanda (Tim), Al, Alissa (Greg), Kristy, Bobbie and Adam. Great grandmother to Jeremiah, Jaelle, Josiah, Mya, Jonathan, Hannah and Avery. Sister, Sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, and so much more to her extended family.
Verlene grew up in a home full of love, where family meant everything. A home where love multiplied, and many friends and family would gather. A place where laughter, love, and life lessons were shared. A home where hospitality was just as normal as breathing, and enough was made more than enough with the special ingredient of love added to every aspect of life.
Verlene took this love and shared it everywhere she went. She humbly served people wherever they were at, and with whatever she had. She quietly stepped in and filled the gaps in people's lives without seeking recognition. She loved with her hands, by crafting meals or giving of her time in other creative ways like knitting mittens or socks, making quilts, or simply picking up a dish towel and drying dishes quietly beside you. She knew love looked like something, and that something was exactly what that person needed in that moment.
She loved Jesus with her whole heart and served her friends, family, and strangers out of the abundance of true love that He put within her. She poured her life out as an offering of love to Him.
Now, we all feel the gaps that have been exposed by her passing, and we honour those gaps by asking ourselves, what would Verlene do? We will honour her life and her love by stepping up and filling those gaps with quiet love and humble hearts. We will honour her life by speaking kind words of encouragement and love, lifting people up and giving them hope. We will live fully in the moment, looking into the eyes of those that the Lord places in our paths, letting His love flow through us the same way He did with Verlene. This love is an eternal love, the heritage that will flow on for generations to come.
Her friends and family, near and far, will miss her compassion, kindness, and her humor. The little acts of kindness received with open hearts, those one liners that continue to make us stop and laugh, even now, as we hold these memories close to our hearts and remember her as we tell her stories, her jokes, and her message of hope and love.
We will celebrate her life together for a graveside service at the Riverside Cemetery, Fountain Road, at 11am, Wednesday May, 13th 2026. Followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments at Ron and Donna's home, 1002 Wallace River West Road.
We thank you for honoring Verlene's memory with your generous gifts. Nanny loved flowers, or donations may be made out to the Diabetes Foundation.
