It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Sylvia Mildred (Johnson) Jamieson, 87, of North Wallace, NS on June 13, 2026.
Sylvia (Sue) was born January 15, 1939 in Malagash. She graduated from Tatamagouche Rural High School in 1957 and soon after moved to Halifax to start her first job as an Administrative Support Staff in the Emergency Department of the Victoria General Hospital until 1959. She enjoyed the bustling city life but her heart remained at home on the North Shore. After moving home, her career continued at the Windsor Salt Company and then Charman's Home Hardware where she worked as a book keeper until her retirement.
Sylvia enjoyed the simpler things in life. Beach walks at the back shore, picking berries, her flowers, and a good yard sale. She was both a creative and adventurous spirit. She enjoyed crafting but particularly liked knitting, quilting, toll painting and Christmas crafts. Her travels took her across Canada, several destinations in the United States and the Caribbean but she most loved her trips that took her to Alaska and Scotland.
She was an active community member, volunteering her time with the WDVFD Auxiliary, St. Andrew's United Church UCW, and the Open Hamper Food Bank in Pugwash. She was always there for her family, neighbours and community.
The example she set, the love that she gave and the memory of her will live on in those of us she leaves behind. She is survived by her son Glenn (Gina), daughter Alison (Mike), son-in-law Peter (Tracey), brother Donald, cousin Barry (Nancy) and sister-in-law Elva. She was a cherished grandmother and will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Tyler, William (Chelsie), Aiden, Cameron (Brooke), Ethan (Emilie) and Ashlin as well as her great grandchildren Petra, Claire, Maverick and Kasen; plus several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Merrill of 64 years, son Ronald, daughter Heather, parents Reginald and Gertrude, brother Carl, sister-in-law Annie, sister-in-law Donna, brothers-in-law Richard and Jerry and sister-in-law Francis.
Funeral Service will be at 2pm Thursday June 18, 2026 at St. Andrew's United Church, Fox Harbour. Rev. Connie McNamara officiating. Burial immediately following with time of remembrance and reflection in the church basement.
Donations in memory may be made to St. Andrew's United Church, Fox Harbour, Fox Harbour Community Cemetery or a charity of your choice.
