Leslie, Shirley Jane - 81, of Riverview, NB, passed away peacefully August 10, 2021 with family by her side. Shirley was born in Birchwood, NS,  a daughter of the late Charles A. Moore and Hazel A. (Mattinson) Moore. Knowing from an early age she wanted to serve others as a nurse, Shirley proceeded to complete her education at the Moncton School of Nursing. Her kind and compassionate nature served her well as she began her career at the Pugwash Hospital and later the Amherst Hospital. As a single mother she returned to school and completed a certificate in community nursing from Dalhousie University. She continued caring for others throughout her working years as a public health nurse in Amherst. Being active was important to Shirley. She enjoyed hiking The Glen, running, cross country skiing, and in her later years walking. Active in her community, Shirley taught fitness classes at the local YMCA, was involved with the local chapter of the NS Lung Association and attended the Amherst Wesleyan Church. After retiring Shirley had more time to dedicate to her creative pursuits, leaving behind a beautiful assortment of crafts, knits, quilts and paintings that will be forever cherished. As a dedicated and loving mother, Shirley constantly supported her daughter's many activities, emphasized the importance of family and friends, and provided an unending supply of love. Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Wendy (Derek) Randell; her three brothers, Stan (Faye) Moore, Chuck Moore and Jim (Grace) Moore; special nieces, Judy and Barb; cousin, Bea; dear friend, Ann and extended family both near and far. Along with her parents, Shirley was predeceased by husbands, R. Wendell Dill and Arnold A. Leslie; sister, Vivian Ferguson and infant sister, Rita; sisters-in-law, Ellen Larsen, Lorraine Weatherbee, and Lorraine Moore. Arrangements are in the care of MacDiarmid's Funeral Home and Crematorium, Oxford. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in Shirley's memory may be made to The Canadian Mental Health Association of New Brunswick. Online condolences can be made by visiting www.mmcfunerals.com.
