Sharon Jane
Dunphy
Nov 4, 1958 — Nov 12, 2025
Marshville
We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of Sharon Jane Dunphy on November 12, 2025.
Sharon was born on November 4, 1958, in Hamilton, Ontario, to the late Daniel Murray and Gwendolyne Mae Gratto.
At the age of nine, Sharon and her family returned to Nova Scotia, where, even in her youth, she could often be found helping her father at their local service station. After graduating from West Pictou District High, Sharon went on to marry the love of her life, Brian, and together they raised three daughters in Marshville. Sharon's desire to help others led her to return to school, where she studied to become a registered nurse.
During her nursing career, she embraced the opportunity to practice her skills in many settings. She soon discovered her calling and spent the remainder of her working years at the Colchester Regional Hospital as a psychiatric nurse.
Sharon was predeceased by her brother, Kenny Gratto; infant nephew, Greg Falconer; and her mother- and father-in-law, Thelma and Jimmy Dunphy. She was also predeceased by brothers-in-law Donnie, Clayton, and David.
She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Brian David Dunphy; daughters Amy (Craig), Jenny (Kelly), Jessica (Ryan); and chosen son Layton. She is also survived by her sister Linda (Angus); brother Mike (Rotceh); brother-in-law Ronnie (Beth); sisters-in-law Phyllis (Ross), Florence, and Vivian. Her grandchildren—Devon, Kenzie, Jorja, Jesse, Bailey, Jayden, Christian, Taylor, Jaylen, Foster, and her ray of sunshine, Finlay Murray, will forever hold her close in their hearts, along with many nieces and nephews.
She will also be deeply missed by her fur babies, Mandy and Peanut.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Coulter's Funeral Home, Tatamagouche. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
