Porter
Jul 25, 1999 — Aug 27, 2024
Springhill
It is with devastating sadness to announce the passing of Ryley "Rport" Porter , 25 of Springhill, who passed away peacefully in his sleep at his grandfather's on August 27th, 2024. Though his life was cut short he made an enormous amount of friends along the way and achieving many accomplishments in sports. Starting at a young age, Ryley joined hockey and baseball and became an incredible athlete in both sports. Taking his teams to provincials on multiple occasions and even winning provincials for his baseball team by facing 9 batters in 3 innings and striking out 7 with two pop flies bringing home the championship for the Springhill Fencebusters. He was also an avid fisherman spending many days and nights fishing with his grandfather Dick, friend and brother Brendon and his friend Bear. Later on in life he took to darts and became a loved and valued member of the Springhill Legion and other dart organizations. No matter what Ryley did he was always good at it and always made friends anywhere he went. He was a good son, grandson, uncle, nephew and brother to many more than just his biological siblings. He will be deeply missed by so many people. He is survived by his mother, Kim; father, Troy; son, Oliver; grandfather, Richard "Dick"; aunts, Cathy (Lemont) and Susan; siblings, Dylan, Michelle (Jon), Brendon, Colby, Tory and Alyssa and many other chosen brothers; nephew, Lincoln; niece, Sidnee; cousins, Nick, Jessica, Roman and Liam. The family would like to thank the community for the incredible outpouring of support and love during their time of grieving. Momma Kim would also like to add to any of those who called her Momma Kim and had a connection with Ryley feel free to come up anytime to see her. She loved each and everyone of you. Cremation has taken place in the care of MacDiarmid's Funeral and Crematorium, Oxford. In keeping with Ryley's wishes a private service will be planned at a later date with a dart tournament set to take place in Ryley's memory on Saturday, September 28th at 10 a.m. in the Springhill Legion. His brother Dylan is planning a Celebration of Life with a date to be announced for Ryley's friends as a chance to say goodbye, tell stories and send him off with love.
