Obituary

Ross Charles Kennedy, 73, a true nomad, passed away peacefully at the Aberdeen Hospital, surrounded by love on January 10, 2025.

In his final days, he was comforted by the knowledge that he was deeply cared for, and that he had given everything he had to those he loved. To those who knew Dad, he was a strong-willed, passionate, kind-hearted, and proud man. Above all, he was incredibly proud of his seven children, who stood by his side until the end, offering the same unwavering support he had given us throughout our lives. As a father, he played the "game of his life," and we will forever remember his spirit, the lessons he taught us, and the love he showed while raising his family.

Predeceased by his parents: William "Bud" Kennedy and Marion Kennedy (McCully). Dad is survived by his siblings: Carolyn (Andrew) Cochrane, AB; Jim (Valerie) Geraldton, ON; Jane (Dan) Maryland, USA. His seven children: Will (Chandra) of Tatamagouche, NS; Doug (Heather) of Truro, NS; Jim (Bonnie) of Kitchener, ON; Brian (Katie) of Beaverbrook, NS; Chris (Megan) of Geraldton, ON; Charles (Katey) of Truro, NS; and Mary (Joles) of Tatamagouche, NS. countless nieces and nephews and cousins.

He is also survived by his 17 grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He loved sharing stories about each of them and was always eager to boast about their accomplishments. Dad had a deep love for music, which he shared with anyone who would listen, though his greatest audience was always his family. A hardworking man, he could often be found on the job site, ready to tackle the next project— a trait he proudly passed down to his sons. He also had a strong passion for golf and hockey, not only as a spectator but as a player. He took great joy in teaching his children and grandchildren the games he loved. Dad was also known for his humor, always ready with a story or a joke, his ability to make everyone laugh with his puns and quick wit will never be forgotten.

We will forever miss and love you Dad, and we will carry your lessons and legacy with us.

A special thank you to the ICU and Palliative Care teams at the Aberdeen Hospital for their compassion and care during Dad's final days.

In accordance with Dad's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Coulter's Funeral Home in Tatamagouche.
