Sep 12, 1965 — Aug 24, 2022
Tatamagouche
Robert Charles "Rob" "Bear" Barrett – 56, Tatamagouche, passed away on Wednesday, August 24th, 2022. It is with great sadness that this incident occurred suddenly and unexpectedly, however his contagious smile and positive demeanor will sit fresh in the thoughts and hearts of many. Born in Truro on September 12th, 1965, Rob was the son of Robert "Bob" and Rosemary "Roby" Barrett. Rob was a loving father, and grandfather, as well as a passionate and committed coach and educator.
Rob graduated from the Nova Scotia Teachers college in 1991 and achieved a Masters of Education at St. Francis Xavier University in 2021. He invested 31 years of his life teaching many different subjects, most memorably visual arts, and physical education. In this time, he influenced the minds of many students, always keeping an open door to those who required morale support and a shoulder to lean on. Rob developed a deep passion for athletics in his childhood and would carry this passion with him throughout his life. He spent countless hours coaching many different sports such as Wrestling, Track and field, Softball, Football, and Soccer. In addition to athletics, Rob was a talented wood carver and has created several award-winning pieces over the years. Taking after his father, he found pleasure in sharing his expertise through the carving lessons which he would host for both youth and adults. Rob's happy place was on his motorcycle, in nature, or around the campfire at Seafoam Campground. Survived by his children Daniel (Kathryn) Barrett, Lauren Barrett, and Noah Barrett; Grandchildren Jonathan, Gabrielle, Arianna and Linken; Siblings Angie (Chris) MacIntyre, Gina (Stephen) White, and Michael Barrett; Mother of his Children, Christine Connolly. He will be fondly remembered by many special aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, extended family, and partner Jenny White. Predeceased by parents Robert "Bob" and Rosemary "Roby" Barrett and his infant brother Christopher.
