Hardie, Reginald Borden - 76, Collingwood. It is with a sad and heavy heart that the family of Reginald B. Hardie announce his passing on July 26th, 2024 in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst. Born in Truro, he was the first born son of the late Leonard and Mary (Downey) Hardie. Reg made a career out of being a truck driver, which often took him away from home, and though he spent many hours away, when he was home, he always made time for his family and friends. Good food, a drink, a good joke and many stories to tell of his travels near and far. He enjoyed a good time, and loved to make people laugh. On retirement he ran a small fish farm, and because he never lost the passion for driving, he hauled blueberries in the fall to keep busy. He loved to hunt and fish, and the past few years did some gardening to pass the time. His love for life and family was unmatched. He will be painfully missed by his family and many friends. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Linda Stevens; three daughters, Tanis Corning and Mary Hardie-Meade, both of Fort Saskatchewan, SK; Twyla Hardie, Golden, BC; four grandchildren, Chandler, Rylan, Kaden and Katrina; sisters, Marjorie, Juanita, Hilda, Dena and Shona; brothers, Paul, Robbie and Brad; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Linda and Dorothy; brothers, Ronald and Osborne. Arrangements are in the care of MacDiarmid's Funeral Homes & Crematorium. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, August 3 in Millvale United Cemetery. Reception to follow at Millvale Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
