Obituary

We are saddened to announce the passing of our 90-year old feisty, stubborn, opinionated and fiercely independent mother, Pauline Fredericka Glenn of Wallace, Nova Scotia on September 1, 2022 in the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst.

Pauline was born in Sherbrooke, Guysborough County, Nova Scotia, and was the youngest daughter of the late Hayden and Catherine (Ross) Pryde. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard Glenn, brothers, Gerald, William, Jack and Dickson; sisters Jeannetta and Geraldine. She is survived by her son, Wayne Canfield (Denise); daughter, Shelly Canfield (Bernie Archambault); grandsons, Patrick Roach (Jody), Edmonton, Dwayne Roach (Lynn), Edmonton, John-Douglas Canfield-Roach, Cape Breton; granddaughters, Nicole Roach (Jason), Dartmouth, Paulina Canfield-Roach, Edmonton; daughter-in-law Amanda Goris, Halifax; great-grandchildren Max, Ace and Ava, sister-in-law, Jean Pryde, and many nieces and nephews.

Pauline lived a full life and was determined to do as much on her own as possible. She strongly believed in community service and was very proud of the "Thrifty Six," a group she helped set up to provide recipes and advice in preparing nutritional meals to low-income families. She also enjoyed knitting mittens and providing boots and supplies to the local school and knitting afghans for "seniors" to keep them warm. She was also actively involved in advocating for, and the eventual passing of grandparents' rights legislation in Nova Scotia. She enjoyed various board games, especially Rummy-O. She was very sharp, and the only thing better than playing a game, was winning one, which she often did.

A special thank you to Dr. Ferguson, Dr. Fairstein, Dr. Short and Nurses, Andrea, Dulcy, Kaila and Vicky.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, September 7, at 2 pm at the Brookside Cemetery, Wardour St., Bedford with Pastor John Donkin officiating.

Donations in Pauline's memory can be made to your local SPCA or to Marilyn and Friends Spay and Neuter Program (contact Northumberland Veterinary Clinic, Pugwash 902-243-3999).

Arrangements are under the direction of Coulter's Funeral Home, Tatamagouche.
