Patricia Lynn Braden, MHSA, 73, Halifax, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021, at East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Margaret (Leonard) Wood.

Mom worked at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax for more than 25 years. She received a master's degree in health services administration from Dalhousie University, and she retired in 1997 as the VG's Divisional Chief of Anatomical Pathology. She brought joy and passion to her work and treasured the friendships that grew from her job. Her remarkable communication and people skills ensured her success.

She married Bill Braden in 1968, and while they divorced amicably in 1982, Mom was a rock—and a rock star—to her children. She guided us with her insight, empathy, and common sense, and her pearls of wisdom continue to inspire us every day. She loved us without conditions and without rational limits. To walk into a room was to be met by her wide smile and twinkling eyes.

Her loyalty to her family was unmatched, and she was always a leader when the chips were down. There was no task she couldn't tackle. As her parents aged, she acted as caregiver, offered moral support, and worried about all the little details so her mom and dad didn't have to. Her siblings, nieces, nephews, and other extended family were the lucky recipients of her loving care, hospitality, kindness, and endless generosity. She enjoyed nothing more than an evening with all of us together. The wine and laughter were always flowing, and her laughter was often the loudest.

She leaves this world beloved. She is survived by her son, Lewis (Kandis Weiner); her daughter, Amanda (Jeremy) Bidnall; grandchildren Olive, Mae, Amy and Jill; brother Gary (Greta); sister Donna (Jim) Fraser; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother Grant. A private family graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to East Cumberland Lodge in Pugwash, NS, or Willow Hall at Mount Hope, NSH, Dartmouth.
