Natalie Catherine
West
Mar 31, 1934 — Jun 24, 2021
West, Natalie Catherine - Wow, what a journey. It is with both sadness and joy we write to advise the passing of Natalie C. West (Chisholm). A few angels oversaw her final journey back to her home and family where she passed away peacefully Thursday, June 24th, 2021 at the age of 87. She was the loving wife to her first predeceased husband, Walter Chisholm, and a wonderful mother to 5 sons, Vaughn (Darlene), Raymond, John (Claire), Wayne and David (Maria). Then, after raising her sons alone for many years, she found love and joy again marrying Bob West. He was a wonderful American from Michigan who also passed recently. Natalie's true joy was to see her sons grow up and enjoy families of their own. These include numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and step family in Michigan and Florida USA. With her caring and energetic spirit, she was a Brownie Leader, Church Elder, Choir Director, and Barber Shop singer. In that same caring nature, she became a PCW, worked at the post office, drove School Bus and worked for the Phone Co. Born and raised in Collingwood to Otis and Pearl Austin, she had 3 brothers Henry (Jewel), Leo (Marilyn) and Wilfred (Georgie). We want to express our sincere gratitude to all our VON nurses and every member of the Palliative Care Unit at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. A special thank you to her granddaughter Brittany Chisholm, for being in hospital with her grandmother when the boys were under quarantine and unavailable to visit a couple of days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Collingwood United Church Pastoral Charge. Arrangements are in the care of MacDiarmid's Funeral Home and Crematorium, Oxford. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 28 in Collingwood United Church. Priority seating will be given to the family.
