Nancy
Trenholm
Apr 30, 1940 — Apr 15, 2022
Port Howe
Trenholm, Nancy Agnes Mercer Patterson, 81, Port Howe, passed away Friday April 15, 2022, in Pugwash NS, peaceful and surrounded by family. Nancy was born April 30th, 1940, in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland to parents Emily and Archibald Patterson. She moved to Canada with her parents and younger sister Emma in 1950, settling in Pugwash, Nova Scotia where she later met her husband Alexander (Sandy) Trenholm. They were married in 1960, and remained so for 61 years. They had two sons, Neil and Lee. Nancy and Sandy spent 17 years in Saskatchewan, where she showed dogs and served as obedience director for the Saskatoon Kennel Club. She will be remembered as a formidable competitor in Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia show rings, and for her outstanding quality of German Shepards and Pembrooke Welch Corgies. Nancy moved back to Nova Scotia in 1977, where she continued teaching and showing. Many knew her as the face of Bosenga Kennels, which the couple ran for a number of years in Port Howe. Nancy devoted much of her time and energy to the study of homeopathy, and always had a remedy on hand to help cure man or beastie. Sharp witted and irreverent, one could always count on Nancy for a snappy comeback or an honest opinion. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Emily and Archie Patterson, her sons Neil and Lee Trenholm and an infant daughter, Joanne. Nancy is survived by her beloved husband Alexander " Sandy" Trenholm, and her sister Emma Patterson, of Pugwash NS, as well as by her daughter-in-law Renee Trenholm, grandchildren Elaina (Trenholm) Langille and Novalee Trenholm, Ashleigh Zalanka, Chad Stanley, Christian, and Kaytie Rhodes, and by her many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Nancy's life will be held at a later date.
