Sep 5, 1934 — Jul 7, 2021
Amherst
It is with profound grief and sadness that we announce the passing of Mildred Anne DeCoste, 86, of Amherst, on Wednesday, July 7th, 2021 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in Oxford, N.S. Millie was the daughter of the late Herbert and Estelle (Gordon) Graves. Millie touched many lives with her kindness and outward love for others. She enjoyed knitting, doing her crossword puzzles, and putting 1000-piece puzzles together. She was a big lover of cats and dogs, and enjoyed dog sitting for her neighbours and friends. Her love and focus were Family, and she was deeply devoted to her children and grandchildren. She was affectionately named the 'Amherst Nanny' and loved the babies like her very own children. Millie will be dearly missed by her children, Dana (Mike), Courtice, ON, and Darren (Donna), Whitehead, N.S. and her beloved grandchildren, Ryan, Emma, Jacob, Courtney and Christopher. She will also be missed by her siblings, Wanda Hatfield, London, ON, and Claude Graves (Donna), Oxford, N.S. and a multitude of nieces, nephews, their families and friends. Millie will be reunited with her dear mom, Estelle, her sister, Shirley, and her brother, Walter. For those wishing to do so, donations may be made to the LA Animal Shelter (Amherst) and Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, July 14 in MacDiarmid's Funeral Home and Crematorium, followed by graveside service in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
