Mary Celia
Tait
Jun 30, 1919 — Feb 28, 2021
Moncton
The family of Mary Celia Tait are saddened to announce her passing on February 28, 2021 at the Spencer Nursing Home in Moncton, New Brunswick at the age of 101. Born June 30, 1919 in Elgin, New Brunswick, to Nelson Tait and Frances Kathleen Steeves, Mary lived most of her life in the homestead in Elgin. Although she never married, she was well cared for by her sisters and their extended families in Moncton, Fredericton, Nova Scotia and the US and many summers were joyfully spent together at Fundy National Park. Mary entertained many generations of family and friends with her stories and laugh and three piece suits in the middle of summer. Mary was predeceased by her parents Nelson and Frances Tait, her sisters Bertha (Bob) Livingstone, Moncton, NB, and Muriel (George) Taenzer, Rochester, NY, and Bertha's daughter/her niece, Fiona (Martin) Topp, Vancouver, BC. She is survived by Bertha's children Frances Williams and Donald (Bernie) Livingstone; Muriel's children Patricia (Earl) Baugh and Stephen Taenzer; great nieces and nephews Shannon (Kendall) Black, Jennifer Wride, Rob (Samantha) Livingstone, Andrew Livingstone, Robert Topp, James Topp, Richard Topp and Viktor Baugh; great-great nieces and nephew Paige, Rhyse and Jackson Black and Kylie, Jayden, Mia, and Reese Livingstone; special cousins Mary Jean and Barry Grant, Becky (Jamie) and Laura (David). The family would also like to acknowledge Jocelyn and Joseph Steeves (cousins) and Bonnie Price of Elgin, NB who all cared for Mary for many years with day to day needs and friendship. Our heartfelt thanks are extended to the kind, caring and professional staff of the Kenneth E. Spencer Nursing Home for their excellent care of Mary, especially in this challenging last year. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to MacDiarmid's Funeral Home in Oxford, Nova Scotia. Due to COVID restrictions, a graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in Mary's memory to the Kenneth E. Spencer Nursing Home.
