Mary Jane Craik passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, at the Valley View Villa, Stellarton, N.S. Born in Newcastle, N.B., Mary Jane was a daughter of the late Robert Franklyn and Ruth Janie (MacCaull) Craik, and she was predeceased by her husband Norman Martin, sisters Dorothy 'Sally' Mather, Ivy MacKinnon, Roberta 'Bertie' Smerciak, and brothers Herbert and Robert 'Bob' Franklyn Jr. She is survived by her brother Stephen (Rachel) Craik, several nieces and nephews and their partners, great nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Mary Jane graduated from University of King's College in Halifax and went on to be a clerical worker for Tourism New Brunswick. Later, she managed her own bookkeeping company with Norman (Craik, Martin & Associates) from her beloved seaside home at Cape John.

Mary Jane contributed much of her time and talents to the community; she was treasurer of the River John Library Board of Directors and was a member of Beausejour Ladies' Club in Moncton, St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in River John, River John RJ's Ladies Group, and Friends of the River John Library. Mary Jane will be fondly remembered for her love of curling, gardening, swimming at the Cape, reading, travelling, and a four o'clock beer in good company. The family is very grateful to the amazing staff at Valley View Villa for their loving care provided to Mary Jane during her time there.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Mary Jane will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, September 20 in St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in River John. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Coulter's Funeral Home in Tatamagouche.
