It is with profound sadness and shock that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Marvin James "Quik" Roberts at his home in Bayhead, Nova Scotia on July 28, 2024. Marvin was born June 4, 1958 in Oshawa, Ontario, but always considered this his father's family home in Bayhead his lifelong home for the past 56 years. Marvin was the son of George and Shirley (Trenholm) Roberts and twin brother to Marilyn Roberts.
Marvin, whose nickname was "Quik", attended Tatamagouche Elementary and North Colchester High School; he also attended Nova Scotia Vocational School in Truro. He held many positions throughout his life, including working for a carpenter, paving company, fisherman, and for approximately 30 years he was a Cable/Satellite/Internet technician; he was often known as "the Cable Guy". He was once named as one Shaw Satellite's top ten technicians in Canada. He loved talking with and helping his customers from Tatamagouche, River John, Wallace, Pugwash, Wentworth and all points in between. No matter what he was doing, if a customer stopped to ask him a question, he would oblige.
Marvin, over the years volunteered in the community including the NSRC and the Tatamagouche Oktoberfest. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 64. But dearest to his heart was the more than 30 years volunteering for the Tatamagouche Fire Department.
Marvin was a kind-hearted person who would help anyone who needed it. He had a great sense of humour and a had a great laugh. He loved his Sunday morning golf games with the guys and the trips to Myrtle Beach and Florida. He also loved his inner circle of friends and their families. Marvin loved to dance, especially the Jive with the ladies at the Oktoberfest. He was noted for being light on his feet. He also loved the annual "cabbage rolls" he would receive from Valerie Creighton. Marvin loved life; he would say to his sister, don't worry, just be happy.
Predeceased by his father, George Roberts, his mother Shirley Roberts, Fraternal Grandparents, Jim and Jean Roberts of Bayhead and maternal grandmother, Phyllis Goodwin of Ontario. He is survived by his twin sister, Marilyn Roberts, Bayhead and his fur babies, Bella and Sassy.
Marvin was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
