Obituary

Moss, Margaret Ann - We sadly announce the passing of Margaret "Marg" Ann Moss of Oxford Junction. Marg was 89 and passed away June 15th, 2026 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst.

Marg was the daughter of the late Avard and Daisy (Greenhow) Moore. Marg went to school in Glenville then Oxford High School. Marg and her husband, Bruce, moved to Ontario where they stayed a few short years before moving back and settling in Oxford Junction. There, they lived with their three children, Robert Bruce "Bob", Randy James and Lori Ann.

Marg was pretty well-known in the community having worked at the telephone office, Stanfield's, Steadman's, The Oxford Journal and Randy's Deli, where she and Bruce became proprietors. It's at the deli where people got to know Marg and her quick wit.

Marg enjoyed music and going to dances. She was also a piano and accordion player in her spare time. She later joined the Cobequid Fun-Tones Barbershoppers and really enjoyed singing. Marg also was an active member of the Maple Players Theatre Group.

In the summers, Marg and Bruce could be found in Five Islands camping with their many friends and visitors. This was an area they spent 50 years in enjoying the sun, friends, family and fishing, not to mention campfires every night they were able.

In the fall, Marg could be seen sitting with Bruce by an open fire behind the house. Marg also enjoyed peaceful time with Bruce, family and friends at their camp. Thanksgivings there were lively where washer toss, good food and grandkids played a hugs part in Marg's post camping life. Marg also helped in making Christmases a big deal for everyone making our favourite desserts that only she felt weren't good enough.

Marg was a good wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Every day at around 4 pm she and Bruce would have a glass of wine. So, if you take a sip, raise your glass in remembrance of Marg, she would love that. She will be missed.

Marg is survived by her brother, Jack (Gail), Ontario; half-brothers, Ronnie Moore, River Philip; Terry Moore, NL; half-sister, Sharon Moore, Dartmouth; son, Randy (Sandra), Oxford; son-in-law, Bruce Beattie, Oxford; granddaughters, Brittany Cotton, Amherst; Nicole Cotton (Dan), Springhill; Morgan Moss (Matt), Halifax; great-grandchildren, Holden, Theo, Liam, Harper and Anna Lori.

Marg was predeceased by her husband, Bruce; son, Bobby; daughter, Lori; daughter in infancy, Gail; brothers, Bobby and Eric; sister, Phyllis; and half-brother, Billy.

Visitation will be from 1-3 pm Sunday, July 12 at MacDiarmid's Funeral Home & Crematorium, Oxford. Donations may be made to Glenville Cemetery.
