In 1963, they relocated to Dartmouth and became members of Steven's Road Baptist Church, where Margaret was actively involved in teaching Sunday School, serving as Envelope Secretary, and Secretary of the Choir.
They spent many week ends at their cottage in Pugwash, N.S., and in 1991, they built a home there, spending winters in Bradenton, Florida. They attended Wesley-St Matthews United Church in Pugwash. Margaret was a long-time member of the Northumberland Links Golf Club, Halifax Bridge World, and Bradenton Bridge Centre in Florida. She loved the competitiveness of Duplicate Bridge and achieved Silver Life Master Level. Margaret also enjoyed traveling and cruising with friends and family.
