Margaret Boyle

September 13,1953 – July 29, 2023

Margaret (Mag, Maggie) Ann Boyle (née Bolger), age 69, died peacefully on July 29th, 2023 due to heart failure. She had had a beautiful day swimming, dancing, and celebrating a friend's marriage with her husband David. They had been having a night away from her home in Wallace, NS.

Born Sept 13th, 1953 in Brockville, Ontario, Margaret married David at the age of 21, and they were married 48 years. Their marriage was the model for what a loving, passionate, and supportive relationship could be. Love overflowed from their partnership and blessed their children, Katie (Matt G.), Max (Laura R.), and Laura (Matt M.), and grandchildren, Maeve and Gavin.

Margaret was the youngest sister of Jack Bolger (Nellie), Bernard Bolger (Theresa), Helen Kurman (Peter), Barb Ogoniek (George, deceased), Bob Bolger (Irma), and the late Frank Bolger (Marg), and Inez Dekker (Fred). She was the dear sister-in-law of Cynthia Russell (Phil), Pamela Boyle (Malcolm), and the late Robbie Boyle (Barbara). She is remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Many other people have shared that they think of Margaret and David as family, and the feeling was mutual. The circle of unconditional love and care was always extending, never diluted. She will be tremendously missed.

A lifelong artist, Margaret was a tapestry weaver, award-winning fabric artist, painter, and owner of Common Threads Studio. Her art was an expression of her spirituality, self, and connection to the world. Over the course of her life, her contributions to the arts community were too numerous to list in full. Most notably, she was an influential member of the New Brunswick Crafts Council, and a very involved volunteer at the Fraser Gallery in Tatamagouche, NS, where she was instrumental in launching and running The Gallery Shop. Margaret was a participant in many artist workshops and retreats, frequently sharing her knowledge and techniques with students and peers. In parallel with her life's work, she always maintained an overriding love for her husband and three children.

Margaret lived a life that others found inspiring. She had a freedom of spirit that was deeply wise: she was led through her life by an inner knowing of what is most important. She quietly modelled a life well-lived: a life of unconditional love, deep joy, and true beauty. Margaret was playful, adventurous, and could often be found basking — in the sun, in nature, and in the presence of her loved ones. She enjoyed dancing, reading, cooking, creating, and exploring Nova Scotia and the world with David and her many friends. She spent meaningful time on Lac Tremblant Nord and in her very special home on the shore in Wallace, NS. In recent years, she often commented that she was the happiest she'd ever been, in great part due to her strong and supportive relationships, and her connection to the land.

A Service of Remembrance will be held Wednesday, September 13 at 2:30pm in Coulter's Funeral Home, 48 Riverside Dr., Tatamagouche. A time of visitation will occur prior to the service. Reception will then follow at The Fraser Cultural Centre, 362 Main St., Tatamagouche. Webcasting will be available on this webpage for both events.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Fraser. By mail: Send a cheque made out to "Northumberland Arts Council" to Northumberland Arts Council, PO Box 335, Tatamagouche, NS B0K 1V0; or by e-transfer to treasurer@thefraser.org .
