Wells, Marion Lucille "Lucy" 82, Wallace Bay, NS passed away peacefully December 25, 2024. She was born August 26, 1942 in Highland Village to Elmer and Margaret Reid.
Lucy graduated from business college and pursued a secretarial career before meeting her beloved first husband, David Miller, and had two daughters, Cheryl & Penny. She spent the next several years as a stay-at-home mom before returning to the workforce at O'Brien's Pharmacy. Following the death of her husband David, she was lucky enough to fall in love again, meeting Ron, they expanded the family more and they were blessed with the arrival of another baby girl, Dawn who arrived in 1982. She became a grandmother in 1985 with the arrival of Marcia and then again when Nathan arrived in 1987.
She worked for a brief period of time at Pugwash Building Supplies doing office work and then later worked as a clerk at the NSLC in Pugwash before retiring.
Lucy wore many hats and had many talents; she volunteered for many years at the Gathering of the Clans, doing various jobs including working at the Wallace Bay Women's Institute booth and later on helping out at the lobster suppers; worked tirelessly for the Home and School hot lunch program; canvassed for many volunteer organizations including the Red Cross, the Kidney Foundation, the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Cancer Society. She was actively involved on many committees including the United Church, Wallace Bay Cemeteries and the North Shore Antique Tractor Club. She was a member of Wesley St. Matthew United Church and the North Cumberland Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Lucy was an amazing cook who loved to cook and feed anyone; a teetotaller who loved to collect teapots and cow ornaments; nominated for midwife services on the farm when Ronnie & Jimmie were unavailable; proud gardener of flowers and vegetables; loved making preserves; loved to dance until she couldn't, then still took time to enjoy music and never missed an opportunity to tap her foot; enjoyed card games, board games and playing the lottery.
Surviving is her husband of 44 years, Ron; three daughters, Cheryl (Gordon Myers), Penny Miller (Robert Klumpp) and Dawn Wells; four grandchildren, Marcia (Tanya), Nathan, Fiona, & Armin, eight great grandchildren; "special" granddaughter, Ashley Rushton and four "special" great grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Dineen and Glenda MacRae; special aunts, Audrey Brown and Jenny Settle; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents Elmer and Margaret Reid, she was predeceased by her first husband, David Miller; brother Leslie Reid. Visitation will be held Monday December 30, 2024, at Wesley St. Matthew United Church, Pugwash from 12:30 pm until the funeral at 2 pm. Rev. Meggin King officiating. Reception to follow in the Church Hall. Donations in memory may be made to Wallace Bay Cemetery or Wesley St. Matthew United Church.
