O'Brien, Leona Jean -  87, Springhill Junction, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, December 23, 2024 in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.

Born in Toronto, ON, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Fanny (Ledrew) Peaker.

Leona worked years ago at the former Candy Kitchen, Springhill and also the Leto Restaurant, Amherst. She for many years babysat many of the neighborhood children as well as her own grandchildren. Leona also volunteered at the Amherst Legion and enjoyed playing games on her computer. She loved her dogs but most importantly Leona adored her children and talked to them nearly every day for a check in. She was considered a mother, grandmother to many friends as well as family.

Survived by husband Raymond O'Brien; daughters, Beverley Vaughan (Jeff MacDonald); Candy (William) Allen; Barbara Donbrath; Sandra Barlow; Nancy Boswell; Betty O'Brien Thomas (Roger Thomas); sons, Allen O'Brien (Kim Taylor O'Brien); Peter O'Brien (Corina Steeves O'Brien)19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

A time to celebrate Leona's life will be from 2 - 4 pm on  Friday, January 10, 2025 in Springhill Junction Community Hall (16422 Hwy 2).
