Laura Adelaide Tattrie
It is with tremendous sorrow that we announce the passing of Laura Adelaide Tattrie of French River. Born August 19, 1930, Laura was the eldest daughter of Cassie and Lester Tattrie. On December 27th, 1945, Laura married Bernie Tattrie, settling in French River, to start their precious family. Mom will be dearly missed by Betty and Lloyd, Kathleen, Larry and Debbie, Kimberly, Sandra and Charlie and Cheryl. 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. As well as her siblings, Emma Jean (Bill), Audrey, Phillip (Tammy), Elroy (Shirley), Gary (Jean), Freeman (Janet), and Ronald; many nieces and nephews.
Mom was received with a heavenly greeting by her parents, her loving husband Bernie, daughters Dianne and baby girl Adelaide, and son Kevin. Waiting with open arms to get their "Nan Fix" were grandsons Jason and Chris; son-in-law Allen; sisters Ruby, Verna, Lillias; baby sister and baby brother Harry were waiting as well.
Throughout Mom's life, she wore many hats, including House Cleaner, Woods Camp Cook, Bryden's Restaurant, Balmoral Motel, Respite care, and what we believe her most favourite job, Steadmans. During her time at Stedmans, every customer always knew they would be greeted with a warm smile and a friendly hello.
More often than not, you would catch Mom in town, usually at Giant Tiger picking out the latest fashions with jewels to match, to say she was dressed to the nines every day was an understatement. On the days that she was found at home, her hands were never idle. Her many hobbies included baking the yummiest of treats, knitting, her socks, hats, and mittens that were a family favourite and crocheting. Later in life, her passion turned to diamond art, with her carefully creating each of us a beautifully treasured memory. The gatherings in her kitchen on Sundays and Holidays were happy chaos, and it was where many memories were made. Her quick wit and contagious laugh will be cherished forever & ever and live on through her family.
"Mom was comfort, mom was home,
A mother's love is always with her children.
Losing a mother is one of the deepest sorrows a heart can know.
But her goodness, her caring, her wisdom live on like a legacy of love..."
A heartfelt thank you to VON, Willow Lodge and Dr. Bush.
