It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our beautiful Mom, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, Joy Harrison, on August 6th, 2026 at the QEII Hospital in Halifax, NS. Joy was born on September 14th, 1942 in Oxford, NS to her parents, the late and Charles and Marie (Ross) MacPherson. After marrying Ken, Joy was blessed with five children, Nancy (David) Arsenault of Oxford; Jacqueline (Jim) Peach of Liverpool; Rocky Harrison of Oxford; Becky (Paul) MacDonald of Oxford; and Chesley (Brenda) Harrison of Amherst; brother, Jack (Helen) MacPherson of Edmonton; grandchildren, Stephen (Esther) Arsenault; Stephanie Rushton (Matt Speight); Bobby Mattinson; Katelyn (Hubert) Mahoney; Rebecca Rose Mattinson; Christine (Josh) Gould; Jason (Sam) Tattrie; and Jake Harrison; great-grandchildren, Faith & Josiah Arsenault; Ashton & Amber Rushton; Haisley Tattrie; Karson Gould;Jayda and Hayden Rathwell; longtime friends, Gail Gray of Sambro and Debbie Fillmore of Springhill. She was predeceased by her sister, Juanita Kelly; chosen sister Josephine (Rushton) Gordon; and daughter-in-law Linda Levesque of Porter's Lake. Joy worked at different jobs in her earlier years to provide for her five children. When her arthritis stopped her from working, she stayed home to babysit. Joy loved being surrounded by her children and their friends. How she survived the "teen years" with the blaring music, sleepovers, parties, and jokes is beyond us. She was always happy when she was around her children and grandchildren. From making her peanut butter cut-up squares, tomato soup, and hamburger on bread, or going shopping to help pick out a new top for the Friday night school dance, she did whatever she could to make her grandchildren feel special. She was happily blessed again when her great-grandchildren came along. Two highlights of Joy's life were when she traveled to Edmonton with her mom for her brother's wedding, and traveling once again by train to visit her brother, Jack and his family, accompanied by her two granddaughters, Christine and Stephanie. During this time she visited different parts of Edmonton and British Columbia, including the West Edmonton Mall. The family would like to give a special thanks to the VON Cumberland "Home Care Girls". Especially Moms girls; Pat, Trudy, Amanda, Ava and Karen. The doctors and nurses of the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, ICU Trauma Unit. Especially Matt Speight for the extra love and care. The Life Flight Crew, the doctors and nurses at the QE2 Hospital, Unit 5.2 ICU for being so kind and comforting. We appreciate the love. Joy is now singing her praises to Our Lord, and rejoicing. As she would always say when we were leaving, "See ya, love ya, bye." Donations in Joy's memory may be made to the Oxford Fire Department or to the Canadian Cancer Society. A family graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 10, 2026, at Oxford Pine Grove Cemetery.
