With heavy hearts we announce the tragic passing of our beloved Joe. Born January 19, 1986, in Truro, he was the son of Karen (Hall) and Tom. There are simply no words to describe our loss. Joe was a kind and giving young man who wouldn’t even hurt a fly.
Joe loved music and was a talented song and story writer. He would spend hours learning new songs to play on his guitar and harmonica and often shared his music with people at open mic nights.
Joe loved to help people and wanted to make the world a better place. His faith was very important to Joe, and he enjoyed spending time with his community at the church, including with the Knights of Columbus.
Joe valued his ancestry and taught himself how to speak Gaelic, which he then taught to others. His younger days spent at Malignant Cove were some of the best family times – even the very competitive crib games, the coyote encounter on the beach, and his impromptu excursion to sea on an inflatable boat. Above all, Joe’s biggest joy in life was becoming a father to Liam, who he loved very much and began teaching him music.
He will not only be missed by his family but also his church, his community, and his friends.
Joe is survived by his parents, Karen and Tom; his brothers, Robb Hall (Lauren); Donald, and John; and his sister, Mary Janet; nephews, Rowan and Jude; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Most importantly, his son Liam.
Joe was predeceased by his grandparents, Clarence Hall, Mary Nieforth, and Joseph and Janet MacGillivray.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Wednesday, September 23, with funeral mass at 2 pm Thursday, September 24, both in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. 669, Prince Street, Truro.
We will keep Joe alive in our thoughts and try to live on with the same kind and gentle nature he embodied.
