Joanne Patrice
Macpherson
Jan 18, 1963 — Sep 25, 2025
Wallace Bay
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joanne Patrice (Kewachuk) MacPherson. She left us peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of September 25th, losing her battle with cancer.
Joanne is predeceased by her parents: John Kewachuk and Ruby (Roberts) Kewachuk, her brother Jason, and her son Nigel. She leaves behind her children: Lily and Zachary, partner Mike Kuntz, sisters: Melanie, Teresa and Stephanie; niece Haley, nephews Henry and Rowan. Joanne's 'sister from another mother' was her good friend, Janet, who was her warrior-ally during most of her medical appointments and the Thelma to her Louise.
With admiration we will remember Joanne as an avid gardener and a political/social activist. After obtaining a degree in Public Relations from Mt. St. Vincent, Joanne had a passion for researching the truth about matters and very clearly bringing this knowledge to the general public. Joanne was a masterful writer. She won the Atlantic Journalism Gold Award in 2005. She had articles written in Saltscapes, Readers Digest and other media platforms.
Joanne's pride and joy were her children Zach and Lily. Joanne loved all children and her parties celebrated the wonder of fairyland and the thrill of outdoor fires.
The celebration of life for Joanne will be held at the Lobster Factory, (227 Water Street, Pugwash, NS) Sunday, 28th September from 3 to 4:30. Please come and join her family in remembering Joanne.
