MacDonald, Barbara Jeanne - 91, Oxford, passed away Sunday, August 29th, 2021 in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst. Born in Oxford, she was a daughter of the late Alan and Barbara (Watt) Black. Mother enjoyed many of natures bounties, sunrises and sunsets, going to the camp on the lake, drives in the country to look for bear and deer, with anyone that wanted to tag along. Feeding the birds and identifying them as they came and went brought great joy, as her bird field guide was always close at hand. Often times she would reminisce of her trip to Scotland, bagpipes, love of her deep Scottish roots and meals prepared with Skirlie, a traditional Scottish dish made from oatmeal. Her love of Russell, family, friends and especially her grandchildren was strong and obvious as she shared life lessons, stories and made long lasting memories with them, fishing, canoeing teaching them not to waste their money and threats of "boxing one's ears" if they did not behave. A strong love of community was always apparent, as she spent countless hours crafting afghans, socks and mittens to those in need or to charities so they could raise funds. She is survived by her son, Andy (Darlene), Moncton, NB; daughter-in-law, Jennifer, Port Howe; grandchildren, Mark (Meaghan), Sarah and Kelsey (Nick); great-grandchildren, Tessa, Tucker and Tatum; brother, James "Tudor" (Irene). She was predeceased by her husband, Russell; sons, Keith and Terry; brothers, David, Alan, Bill and Eric. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, September 4, 2021 in MacDiarmid's Funeral Home and Crematorium, Oxford.
