Jean Madeline
Duggan
Jun 11, 1939 — May 11, 2022
Tatamagouche
It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother on May 11, 2022 at Colchester East Hants Regional Hospital, with family by her side from Wallace and Tatamagouche. Jean was the wife of Charles Duggan for 62 years. She was a passionate collector of many things and queen of yard sales, collecting dolls, jewelry, books and ornaments among many other treasures. Packing up the truck every Friday night and heading off to New Glasgow at 5 o'clock Saturday mornings to sell her treasures and buy new ones to sell again another day with her two faithful dogs, Joy and Heidi in the back, they would repeat the same packing and road trip each weekend for several years. She loved to travel and travel she did, all over Nova Scotia, sometimes making the trip to Amherst, Truro and New Glasgow all in one day. Jean was fortunate to have traveled to Florida twice in her lifetime and each trip was accompanied by her children and grandchildren. One of her favorite destinations in Nova Scotia was on a hot day to Five Islands and the cool ocean breeze. She was a great cook and for many years family gathered in her kitchen every Sunday for unlimited food and superb baking. In her younger years she had a passion for scraping and refinishing antique furniture which she sold to dealers across the province wanting her work due to the fine details. Nany Jean was an awesome grandmother to Richard, Ryan, Chanel and Blaine taking them on many summer road trips and adventures to Magic Mountain, New Brunswick and always the annual trip to P.E.I., and Rainbow Valley. Jean is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles; son, Peter (Darlene) Duggan; daughter, Carolyn (Darren) Halverson, all of Tatamagouche; grandchildren, Richard (Sara), Ryan (Brittany), of Tatamagouche, Chanel (Nathaneal) Moij, Greenwood, Blaine (Meghan) Halverson, Brooklyn, great grandchildren, Carley and Layne Duggan, Isaac Ferris, Ethie and Moonie Duggan , Tatamagouche, James and William Mooij, Greenwood, Leah Halverson, Brooklyn; she is also survived by siblings, Kate Reeves, Myrtle Cook (Byron), Joan (Kenneth) Reeves, Cheryl (Mac) Reeves, Jackie (Valerie) Cook, Jimmy Cook, Roger (Dianne) Cook; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by sons, Gary and Ricky Duggan and daughter in law, Alisa; brother, Ronnie Cook. Jean was a very private lady and adhering to her wishes a private graveside service will be held at a later date in Monument Hill Cemetery, Richmond. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the IWK Health Foundation.
