Mattinson, Marjorie Ileen (Spence) - 97, Amherst, passed away at home with her daughter by her side on  June 16, 2025. Born in Londonderry, she was a daughter of the late James and Jeanetta (Rushton) Spence. After getting married to Glendon they moved to Ontario where Ileen at one time worked for Eaton's Department Store. They Eventually moved back to Amherst to be closer to family. While in Amherst Ileen took on her role as grandmother and great grandmother with all her energy. She most recently loved taking care of and being cared for by her great-grandson, Ben, who had a special place in her heart. She is survived by her daughters, Edie (Dave), Cannington, ON; Sarrie; Amherst; Shirley, Ontario; son, Glennie (Denise), Oxford; brother, James (Louise), BC. She was predeceased by her husband, Glendon; daughter, Glenda; son, Larry; granddaughter, Ileen; great-great-granddaughter, Bella Rose; twin sister, Kathleen; sisters, Winnie, Frances and Juanita. Thank you to Kevin and Vanessa Patterson for always being there when we needed help with Mom. Also to Veronica Dowe for watching Ben so we could be with Mom. To all the residents at the Fort Cumberland Manor for always lending a helping hand. To Laura Conrad for caring for mom the last several years. To Sarah Ward and Donna Keirstead for the prayers and hymns. Arrangements are in the care of MacDiarmid's Funeral Home & Crematorium. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. We will miss our precious mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Our hearts are broken.
