Hilda Rose
Langille
Dec 27, 1945 — Dec 24, 2023
Wallace
Langille, Hilda Rose – 78, Wallace, passed peacefully with her family by her side at the North Cumberland Memorial Hospital in Pugwash. It's with broken hearts that we said goodbye on Christmas Eve to our much-loved sister, aunt, cousin, musician, and friend. Born in Fox Harbour to Roland and Martha (nee Ruggles) Purdy, Hilda spent most of her working life as a nursing aide, but her true passion was music. Known across the province for her musical abilities, playing just about any instrument she picked up, her heart always belonged to bluegrass and country. Hilda loved to share her musical knowledge with anyone interested in learning. There was always a hot cup of tea and a game of dice or cards ready, and win or lose there was always laughter. She was able to shoot a good game of darts until her health prevented her from doing so anymore. Growing up in a musical family, gatherings "down home", especially at Christmas, brought many happy memories. Hilda was able to enjoy those memories during her final days by listening to the family playing Christmas songs that were thankfully saved on video. She requested to have them playing beside her, and they did. Hilda will be sadly missed by her family, many friends, and extended music families. She has climbed the golden staircase to where the angels sing, and to join so many who have gone before her.
A special thank you to Rev. Connie McNamara for your unwavering support during this difficult time.To the doctors, nurses, and Chris (Respiratory Therapist) in the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center ICU, and Medical 'B' unit, thank you for your kindness and compassion during her stay there. Also, to the doctors, nurses, and nurse practitioners at the Pugwash Hospital, who not only made sure Hilda was well cared for and comfortable, but family there with her were taken care of as well. Your kindness and caring will be forever appreciated.
To honour Hilda's wishes, cremation has already taken place and there will be no visitation or service. A private graveside service will be held in the summer.
The Purdy Family
Just close your eyes and you will see
All the memories that you have of me
Just sit and relax and you will find
I'm still right there inside your mind
Don't cry for me now that I'm gone
For I am in the land of song
There is no pain, there is no fear
So dry away that silent tear
