Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we share the news that Herbert Wayne Dee, 80 years, passed on Thursday, August 31, 2023, with his dedicated wife, Carol, beloved children, Greg, Jacquelyn and his cherished 5 year old granddaughter, Aaliah "Mate Mate" at his side. Herbert was predeceased by his parents, 'Dub' and Doris 'Doe' (MacDonald) Dee, brothers Billy (Eva), Sandy (Trudy) and sister Shirley (Bill Callaghan). He leaves behind his brother Aubrey (Ethel), nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends in NS, ON, US, UK, Aust. Herb treasured his Family and was optimistic, kind, always with his blue eyes twinkling. He had a grand sense of humour, loved music, playing crib & 500 and his many detailed illustrative stories will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Many may still recall his mantra "I feel healthy! I feel happy! I feel terrific!" Herbert was a gentle man … and a gentleman. Herb enjoyed his years of camaraderie with friends in the Wallace United Men's Club and particularly looked forward to singing in the choir on Christmas Eve. Herbert originated from Trenton, Pictou County, Nova Scotia. A keen traveller and having an innate love of people and an affinity for numbers, Herbert worked his way through international hotels in Canada, Bahamas, Bermuda and Australia. After living the Aussie life for 26 years with his family, Herb and his wife Carol returned 'home to Nova Scotia',  drawn to the community village of Wallace, October 2004. Herb busied his remaining 19 years bringing Jubilee Cottage to life, with the b & b, fine dining, catering, community school lunch projects and more.Cremation has taken place under the direction of Mundles Funeral Home, Pugwash NS.
