Georgina "Georgie" Elizabeth Semple of Tatamagouche passed away on January 28, 2024 in the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family.

Georgie was born on August 3, 1953 to George and Helen (Munroe) Irving, Pugwash and grew up on the Gulf Shore. After graduating from Pugwash District High School she attended Holland College and then began her banking career with the Bank of Nova Scotia. Georgie began as a teller, and with her tremendous work ethic, determination and support from mentors she quickly moved up the ladder to become one of the first female managers in the district. Following decades of loyal service with Scotiabank while mentoring many of her staff, Georgie retired in 2008 as Manager of the Tatamagouche Branch.

Georgie was extremely community minded, helping wherever she could and inspiring (coercing) others to get involved as well. Whether she was fundraising, serving on a board, or sharing her financial wisdom and advice, she did so with a positive outlook and always a smile.

Never one to sit, retirement saw Georgie coaching the senior Girls Basketball team at NCHS, curling at the NSRC, singing with the Tatamagouche Area Singers, serving on the Ron Creighton Legacy Committee, the board of the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, just to name a few.

If Georgie was not out and about in the Village you might have found her reading, watching sports, visiting with family and friends, travelling, shopping or enjoying being in the company of Chloe, her very special kitty and constant companion.

Georgie was predeceased by her parents and her infant sister, Janet. Georgie will be forever missed by the absolute joy of her life – her daughter, Jaime (Shawn), sisters, Arlene (George) and Shelley (Jerry), many nieces and nephews as well as the grand nieces and nephews, referred to as the "grands". She will be dearly missed by cherished work colleagues and friends, especially the "YaYa`s".

Special thanks to Martha, Alana, Dr. Rowe, Dr. Roebuck, VON staff and staff at the LFMH for their care during her illness and until her final days.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Georgie's life will be held on Monday, May 6th at 2pm in Sharon United Church, Tatamagouche. Reception to follow downstairs in the church hall. Family interment will take place in Lockerby Memorial Cemetery at a later date. If you choose, memorial donations may be made to the Ron Creighton Legacy Fund, the Tatamagouche Area Singers, the North Shore Recreation Centre, or a charity of your choice.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Coulter's Funeral Home, Tatamagouche.
