Malagash Point
Bonne vivante, stellar wife and mother, master of her Kitchen (tread lightly) and a lover of guests and entertainment.
Donna (née Blue) was born in Belleville, Ontario, studied at the Toronto East General Hospital and graduated as a Registered Nurse, in 1962. In 1963, she married her husband, Barry Durant, the love of her life. Barry worked in the heavy construction field; consequentially, they moved throughout Canada, based mostly in Ontario. Donna had two daughters, Susan Goldie (Peter) now in California, and Holly Almeida deceased 1998 (John). Susan gave her Mom two grandsons, William and Matthew, now in New York, and California, respectively.
Travel, throughout Canada, Europe and the Middle East was a large part of her character.
In 2005, Barry and Donna retired to Nova Scotia, where a fine life was enjoyed. In 2021, Donna was admitted to the Willow Lodge Home for Special Care in Tatamagouche, where she was cared for by an extremely competent and caring staff. She passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025 with her family close by.
Donna leaves her sister Beverly Mott, and niece Kim Harris (John), as well as her brother-in-law David Durant and his wife Patricia, with nieces Hilary McClean (Ian), Amy Durant (Steven Harvey), and nephew Hugh Durant (Katarina Kuruc). Also, niece Lynne Torrie (Heather Walsh), Neil Torrie (Amanda Robinson). Donna was predeceased by her sister-in-law Elinore Torrie (Bruce), and her niece Shiela Sherban (Stephan).
At Donna's request, there will be no service, nor visitation. As weather permits, a reception will be held in Nova Scotia, as well as Southern Ontario. Arrangements are in the care of Coulter Funeral Home, in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Willow Lodge in Tatamagouche will be put to good use. Please click here to donate.
