Rushton, Donald A. - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Albert Rushton, 61, beloved husband to Ghislaine (Arsenault) and ever loving father to Nicholas (Fernanda) on Tuesday, December13, 2016. Don passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Born in Mount Pleasant, NS, on January 17, 1955, he was a son of the late Donald "Sooner" and Della (Trenholm) Rushton. He resided in Oxford, NS most of his life, except for the time he spent in Fredericton, while attending the UNB Forestry Program. Besides his wife, son and daughter-in-law, he leaves to mourn him, four sisters and two brothers, Donna (David) Lewis, Canso; Elma Thompson (Gerry), Oxford; Carlyon (Gary) Moore, Little River; Charlie (Judy) Rushton, Mount Pleasant; Ella Rushton, Shediac, NB; Jerry (Beverley) Rushton, New Minas. He will also be missed by his mother-in-law, Yolande (late Sylvain) Arsenault, Dieppe, NB; and his sisters and brothers-in-law, who loved him like a brother; Monique (Serge) Langis, Dieppe, NB; Marcelle (Jean-Robert) Daigle, Dieppe, NB; Michel Arsenault, Calgary, AB; Renée (Darrin) Carter, Leicester; Sylvie (Mark) Petherick, Dieppe, NB. He will also be missed by several life long friends and his camping family. Don worked for the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources for over 35 years until his retirement. He had truly found his calling. He loved being outside with nature and working in the woods. One of Don's great passions since childhood was horses. He owned and housed several through the years. He took great joy in taking his family and friends for sleigh rides. Don was a born storyteller and one could never tire from listening to him and his contagious laugh. He truly lived life to the fullest. He loved motorcycling, four wheeling, and also enjoyed a few trips abroad. He made a lasting impression on everyone he met, making friends instantly. He was most happy when surrounded by family and friends. He will be forever missed by all who knew him. The family wishes to thank the Oncology and Palliative doctors and staff of the Moncton Hospital for taking great care of Don during his years of treatment and the last two months of his life. A visitation to celebrate Don's life will be held from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m., Saturday, December 17 in MacDiarmid's Funeral Home and Crematorium, 5075 Main Street, Oxford (902-447-2930).
