Tatamagouche
Donald George Taylor – 91, Tatamagouche. It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Donald George "Don" Taylor on his 91st birthday. Don passed away in East Cumberland Lodge in Pugwash in the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 8, 2026
Born on April 8th, 1935 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., he was a son of the late George and Donalda (Leduc) Taylor.
Don was survived by his wife of 45 years, Eileen (Cloney); two daughters, Lila (Rick), Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Connie, Wawa, Ont.; five grandchildren, Nadia, Natasha, Chris, Sabrina and Tamara; several nieces and nephews.; step son, Ronald MacLellan, Pictou.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Joy and Peggy; special sister-in-law, Dorothy Shea; step son, Richard MacLellan.
Don had an electrical, plumbing and heating business for over 30 years in Wawa, Ont. He then worked for Dale Jollymore Construction with Tim Horton's and Fox Harb'r as well as worked for himself – Don Taylor Electric.
He was an active volunteer firefighter for many years in Wawa and Tatamagouche. Don enjoyed being a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 64, Tatamagouche and a member of the United Church of Canada. One of Don's favourite memories is being a part of the creation of Stompin' Tom's famous "Stompin' Board" and he especially enjoyed the song "Sudbury Saturday Night."
Don was very quiet (taking in knowledge) but had a dry sense of humour. He was a great man and a wonderful husband. Eileen and Don travelled to Florida during the winter months for 23 years, where they met and enjoyed time with their many friends.
As we all remember, Eileen would say "Don, did you take your pill?"
Eileen would like to thank everyone who has helped her out and been there during this difficult time.
A Firefighter's Tribute, conducted by the Tatamagouche Fire Dept., will be held in Bell Gift Cemetery, West New Annan on Sunday, April 26th at 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held in the Tatamagouche Legion following the burial from 2-4 p.m. All are welcome.
Donations in Don's memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 64, Tatamagouche, PO Box 344, Tatamagouche, NS, B0K 1V0.
