Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Mom, Cindy Rushton, on August 4, 2026, in Halifax. Mom was born June 15, 1961, in Springhill to Charlie and Barb (Rector) Perrin of Oxford Junction. Mom and Dad raised us for many years on military bases calling PMQ’s home until we settled in at CFB Gagetown and we called Waasis, NB home since 1999. Mom had many jobs but always loved her time working at Gordon’s Greenhouse in her early days and finishing her working career at Rowan's Greenhouse. Being a mom was a wonderful experience for a Nanny in training, the actual job she was destined to be. She loved being a grandmother and to each of the grandchildren; Nanny was the one they all looked to for treats, surprises, and a lot of love. Mom loved any holiday or reason to spoil the grandkids. Christmas has been Mom’s favourite time of year ever since she was a little girl. Making sure each of the grandkids felt the magic of the season was a year long adventure of Mom’s as she would start preparing for Christmas shortly after the new year would start. Bingo was a cherished time for mom, and sometimes she would play with the kids and grandkids. Mom was an avid knitter, and you could usually count on a new pair of winter socks, mittens and if a newborn was expected, a new knitted baby blanket was in order. When there was not a meal on the kitchen table, you could find a jigsaw puzzle border with scattered pieces, but only to put it away as soon as Dad would come off the road. Dad loves puzzles too, but you cannot do them together because Mom had to put in the last piece, but so would Dad. Mom was a huge fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. Being a Nanny was the joy of Mom’s life, but she also cherished the friendships of many special people in her life. Steph would visit often, especially in the summer. As time passed, a special bond created between them grew. We would always know Christmas was around the corner when Patti and Mom would start discussing who had the Annual Christmas Card. They would take turns sending back and forth each Christmas and this Christmas would have been 50 years of this tradition, a tradition that displays true friendship and a bond that has grown since being childhood friends. Mom will forever be in our hearts and our memories as she was taken far too soon. Mom will always be missed and loved by our Dad, Larry Rushton; daughters, Tracy (Tory) Rushton, Oxford, NS; Lyndsay (Todd) Simpson, Lincoln, NB; Ricky (Sara) Rushton, Tracy, NB; the loves of her life, her grandchildren, Bayley Rushton, Cooper Rushton, Lane Rushton, Briar Rushton, Aubrie Simpson, and Charlie Rushton; as well as sister, Lorna Perrin; brother, Robert (Jill) Perrin; nieces, Mellisa and Steph; and nephew, Nicholas. A private graveside service will be held.

Forever in our memories, always in our hearts. A wonderful wife, loving mother, sister and friend,

but we all know, the title of Nanny is what suited you the best.
