Walker, Cheryl Rae - 69, of Truro, Nova Scotia, passed away on March 27th, 2025. Born and raised in Masstown as one of eight siblings, Cheryl was a bold spirit - a woman who lived life fully, spoke her mind, and was unapologetically herself.

Cheryl found peace in nature, whether it was walking through the woods, scouring the beach for rocks, or getting her hands dirty in the garden. She was also a social soul who enjoyed connecting with others. You could often find her at local dances and events, or gathered around the card table with family and friends. Cheryl loved a good gathering, and her laughter and spirit will not be forgotten. She attended Masstown United Church, where she appreciated the community and connection.

In the last couple of years, Cheryl found a new sense of peace and joy in her faith. She began attending Masstown United Church, building meaningful relationships with Minister Marty and her faith community. It was an impactful thing in her life that brought her happiness and belonging. She made the decision to be baptized and this decision brought Cheryl contentment and hope. There is comfort in knowing that she had this peace. Jesus said "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die." John 11:25-26

Cheryl was straightforward and never held back her thoughts - she was as real as they come. She lived life on her own terms, with no regrets, and with a fierce love for the people who mattered most.

She leaves behind her sisters, Patsy (Ted) Hincks, Debbie Walker, Phyllis McClafferty (Danny Yorke), and nieces and nephews, who will carry on her memory.

She was predeceased by father, William; mother, Myrtle (Jennings); brothers, Leonard and Billy; sisters, Georgina MacRae and Verna Walker.

Arrangements are in the care of MacDiarmid's Funeral Home & Crematorium. A service to celebrate Cheryl's life will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, April 9 Masstown United Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Masstown United Church.
