With faith and love, we announce that Charles "Sonny" Gustav Wisen was called home to be with the Lord on March 23, 2025, at the age of 83, passing peacefully in the comfort of his home. Born on May 22, 1941, Sonny led a life full of adventure, love, and dedication to his family, friends, and faith.

Born at home on Cobequid Road in Lower Sackville, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary "Mae" (Wyatt) Wisen.

Sonny was a devoted husband to his wife of 63 years, Donna, and together, they built a life full of love, kindness, and service to others. Their home was always open to those in need, whether it was a child in foster care or someone simply needing a bed or a warm meal. Sonny's generous heart knew no bounds, and his compassion for others left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

A true man of faith, Sonny gave his life to Jesus in the late 1990s and committed himself to spreading the gospel. His faith was evident in everything he did, and he was always eager to share his beliefs with others.

From his teenage years, Sonny understood the value of hard work, beginning in construction and house moving alongside his father. He later spent much of his life behind the wheel of a big rig, driving across North America. He delivered everything from fish to houses, making countless friends along the way. A storyteller at heart, Sonny had a gift for making anyone feel like an old friend. His stories and experiences on the road were legendary, and he had a knack for turning the ordinary into the extraordinary with his vivid recounting.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Donna, and their five children: Charles "Chuck" (Angie) Wisen of Wellington; Darlene (Arthur) Baillie of Waughs River; Rozelyn Wisen of The Falls, Beverly (Jim Oickle) Wisen of Waverley; Charles Robson/Wisen (Charlene) of Lower Sackville. A special family member, Carla MacKenzie, also held a cherished place in his heart.

Sonny was a proud grandfather to a large and loving family, including Jennifer-Rose (Scott) Matheson; Angela (Greg) Minney; Jamie (Jim) Cripps; Jeffrey Baillie; Naomi (Ryan) Hiltz; Charles "Zach" (Julie) Wisen; Micah (Lauren) Wisen; Joshua Wisen; Danielle Wisen; Rebekah Wisen; Bryson Wisen; Connor Wisen; Christina Wisen; Samantha Robson; Brandon Robson; Alex Robson; Olivia Robson; Natalie Robson; Rhonda Ward; Matthew Ward; Shane Ward; Sara Thomas; Anthony Fellows; and numerous other foster and adopted grandchildren. He was also a doting great-grandfather to a growing number of great-grandchildren and a favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his sisters, Audrey Bourgeois and Sandra Comeau, as well as his sister-in-law and dear friend, Betty MacPhee. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, John "Rick" Wisen, and his sister, Lorraine Wisen.

Sonny cherished his family deeply and found immense joy in watching them grow and thrive. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, kindness, generosity, and zest for life. His infectious laugh and loving heart touched the lives of many. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of love, service, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
