Obituary

The family of Bruce V. Moss , 91, Oxford Junction, are deeply saddened to convey the news of his passing on March 1, 2025, in the Halifax Infirmary. Born in Truro, he was the son of the late Stanley and Elsie (Dobson) Moss. Bruce moved, with his parents, to Glenville while in his late teens. Loving the countryside, he remained with them, helping them on the small farm, until his brothers lured him to the big city of Toronto, which he immediately hated. Leaving there, he went to Oshawa to General Motors for two years. On the annual layoff, he came home to marry Marg, taking her back with him. But neither of them wanted to stay any longer than a year so they came home again for good. His search for employment led him to Leslie King, an accomplished furnace installer and plumber. Through this, Bruce learned a vast amount of knowledge. Following Mr. King's retirement, Bruce used that knowledge for many years, gaining many friends in the process, retiring when he was in his late 80's. An avid fisherman and hunter, he managed to find time from work, raising three children, playing ball (mostly as shortstop), wearing out several pairs of waders in the river, he lived a good life, and he will be missed a great deal by many. He is survived by his wife, Marg; son, Randy (Sandra), Enfield; son-in-law, Bruce Beattie, Oxford; granddaughters, Brittany Cotton, Amherst; Nicole Hunter, Springhill; Morgan Moss, Halifax; great-grandchildren, Holden David, Amherst; Theo Hunter, Springhill. He was predeceased by his son, Robert; daughter, Lori Beattie; daughter in infancy, Gail; brothers, John and Donald; sisters, Karen Nix and Gloria Hiltz. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 Friday, March 7 in MacDiarmid's Funeral Home & Crematorium. Donations may be made to Glenville Cemetery.
