Obituary

With love, we remember and celebrate the life of Blair Murray Tattrie, who passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital in his hometown of Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia.

Born on April 3, 1936, to Ellsworth and Myrtle Tattrie, Blair grew up in Tatamagouche, working hard and having fun on the family farm. Together with his six siblings, he spent his childhood surrounded by laughter, love, and the values his parents instilled in him.

While working in Ontario, Blair met the love of his life, Marie Ross. The two married on December 18, 1959, and shared 39 wonderful years together. They built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories, raising three children—Lynn, Allen, and Trevor.

Blair spent much of his career with Warren Paving, S.W. Weeks Construction and later with Will-Kare Paving, where he paved countless roads across Nova Scotia. As a foreman, he earned the deep respect of his crew and took pride in knowing so many of the province's roads by heart. He loved sharing stories from those years and held his memories of that time with great fondness.

A man with a lifelong passion for vehicles, Blair was especially proud of his family's Model T car, which he showcased in well over a hundred parades throughout the years. His enthusiasm grew when he purchased a Model T truck, which became a highlight at numerous car shows and community events, often winning trophies for its originality and charm. Blair was always delighted to chat with anyone about his treasured vehicles.

He also enjoyed exploring antique shops and yard sales, always on the hunt for unique finds. These adventures often turned into stories and friendships that enriched his life. Blair had a gift for making friends wherever he went. Generous and kind-hearted, he was the type of man who would give you the shirt off his back and lend a hand at any time. His laughter, stories, love of gardening, and especially his warm hugs will be deeply missed. His love, care, and thoughtful phone calls left an everlasting mark on our hearts.

Blair will be dearly missed by his daughter, Lynn Reid, and her children, Sherry (Kevin), Michael (Jen), and Stefanie (Renee), along with their father, Edison Reid; his son, Allen Tattrie (Jane Zinck) and their daughter, Alana; and his son, Trevor Tattrie (Jen). He will also be fondly remembered by his great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, his brothers Kenneth (Judy) and Floyd (Betty), his sister Elaine, his sister-in-law Judy, his brother-in-law Don and many extended family and friends.

Blair is reunited in heaven with his beloved wife Marie, his parents Ellsworth and Myrtle, his brothers Basil and Roland, his sister Darlene, his brother-in-law Norman, his sister-in-law Kay, his nephew Anthony, and his great-nephew Ethan.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital for the exceptional care and compassion they provided to Blair on his final journey home.

Visitation will be on Monday, August 18th, from 6-8 p.m., in Coulter's Funeral Home, Tatamagouche. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 19th at 2 p.m. at The Stable, 244 Jim Sutherland Rd., Tatamagouche, with Pastor Larry Tattrie officiating. Burial will take place following the service at the family cemetery (Tattrie's Oak Rest Cemetery). Reception will be held at the home of Floyd and Betty Tattrie.
