Anne
Wilson
Apr 23, 1932 — Aug 31, 2026
West Wentworth
Wilson, Anne Christine (Ferguson) - 94, West Wentworth. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Anne surrounded by family on Monday, August 31st, 2026 in East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash. Anne was born at home in Oxford on April 23, 1932 to the late John and Elsie (Swan) Ferguson. The family moved to Birchwood and then later to Bayhead. It was at a dance in Malagash that she met Gerald Basil Wilson and they married on July 25, 1952, moving to West Wentworth where they raised their family. In the early 1950s, Anne attended the Grace Maternity Hospital nursing program, Halifax. She continued to nurse in the communities of Tatamagouche and Pugwash for many years, eventually co-owning and operating Sunrise Manor nursing home in Pugwash with her brother Daniel. For a time, she managed food services at Ski Wenworth. Anne was proud of her Scottish heritage and passionate about genealogy, relishing her role as the keeper of family stories and history. She was an accomplished photographer and enthusiastic traveller, exploring her family roots on three trips to Scotland. Anne was always eager to try new adventures and would explore any back road. Known for her dry wit and sense of humour, she could be competitive at cards and Scrabble. In her later years, she could often be seen curled up with her cat Bubba and a good book, most likely a British mystery. She loved family gatherings and will be dearly missed by her close-knit family. She is survived by children Gerry Wilson (Trish), Bedford; Jane (Michael) Muldoon, Dartmouth; Margaret (Jamie) Morse, Charlottetown; Kate Wilson, Wallace and grandchildren Liam (Shawna), Dartmouth; Christopher, Bedford; Devin (Bernice), Toronto; and Derek, Charlottetown; as well as great-granddaughter, Elizabeth. Also survived by brother Ralph Ferguson, Balfron; sister-in-law, Pauline Ferguson, Middleboro; many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Remembered fondly by longtime neighbours and dear friends Jean and Donnie Brown and Lorri Adams who was always up for a good game of Scrabble. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald; brothers, Jack, Douglas and Daniel Ferguson. The family extends a huge thank-you to VON Cumberland for their care and kindness to Mum and to East Cumberland Lodge for the amazing and loving care given to her by all the staff members. Donations can be made to the ECL Palliative Care Program, the Earltown Cemetery or charity of choice. Visitation will be from 1-3 Friday, September 4, 2026 in MacDiarmid's Funeral Home, Oxford.
