With deep sorrow the family of Alton Murray Sherriff announce that Alton passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on November 20th, 2025 in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst.

Born in Springhill, NS, July 25, 1947, formerly of South Brook, NS, he was a son of the late Harold and Clara (Brown) Sherriff. Prior to his retirement he was employed with Correctional Services Canada.

Survived by his wife, Shirley (Lloy); sons, Jason (Patricia), Springhill; Travis (Katrine), Ottawa; daughter, Nicole Sherriff (Adam Adshade), Amherst; step sons, Paul (Lila), Calgary; John, Nevada USA; Peter, Yarmouth; sisters, Sharon Schiefer and Valerie Dobson (Edward), both of Springhill; Etta Briand (William), Amherst; grandchildren, Brianna (Tyler) and Kyle (Cassi); step grandchildren, Curtis (Angie), Brendan (Kait), Brody (Jade), and Xavier.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Harold Jr. and Elroy; sister, Donna.

His family would like to thank the staff of the medical unit of the CRHCC Amherst for all the care he received during the past few weeks. Special thanks to Amy Thurston and Dr. Short for their support.

Cremation has taken place. At the request of the deceased there will be no visitation or service. Private burial will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
